A Beach Cottage – Framed

Good morning, stitching friends!

A Beach Cottage designed by Country Cottage Needleworks

I don’t know why it took me so long to get this one framed, but I finally managed to find some time to get this one framed; I did it myself, and I’m quite happy with the job I made of it.

I purchased the frame at 50% off at Hobby Lobby, so this little baby only cost me $10, including the price of the foamcore. Better than paying in excess of $70 to have it professionally framed.

I still don’t feel confident enough with my framing abilities to attempt a much larger piece myself, but an 8″ x 10″ piece seems to be fairly manageable!

I framed it without glass, which is unusual for me, but I neglected to pick up some spacers, so until I get them, it will have to remain without glass. I’m quite liking the look sans glass, but I always worry about dust, living in a house with two dogs who shed constantly.

  1. You’ve picked the perfect frame! And you did a great job framing it yourself, well done.

  2. I love it!! Great job :)

  3. the frame is perfect. Looks like waves!

  5. It’s looking lovely, great framing

  6. Gorgeous frame for your lovely stitching. I read a useful tip for home framing on a blog somewhere – sew a running stitch all the way round your stitching the same size as the mounting board. Use that as a guide to folding the edges over, then you know you have centred your stitching and got it straight too.

  7. Hi…tried to subscribe to your blog/site via e-mail, however it said that it is not set up!!
Also, do you have instructions on finishing and framing a cross stitch picture? Thx, Susan

    • Thanks for the heads up, Susan, about the subscription not working – I’m not sure why it’s not working, but I updated the link, and it should be working now.

I don’t currently have finishing instructions for framing a cross-stitch picture, but I am working on it, so look for something in the next few days!

      Thanks for visiting!

  8. It’s so cute and looks great without glass. Love the little starfish too!
